One of the most impressive features of Kevlar line is its exceptional abrasion resistance. This property helps prevent unexpected string snaps, which commonly occur during binding, fastening, or use near sharp edges. In addition to its resistance to abrasion, Kevlar line is also highly resistant to chemicals, including acids and alkalis.

Kevlar's ability to withstand high temperatures makes it a popular choice for firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE). Unlike nylon or polyester, Kevlar does not melt and only decomposes at relatively high temperatures, typically between 800°F and 900°F (427°C and 482°C).

The toughness of Kevlar is another significant advantage. Its high tensile strength, which is 10 times greater than steel on an equal weight basis, is packed into a lightweight and compact form. A 100-foot roll of 700-pound black Kevlar line weighs only 3.38 ounces, making it easily portable and convenient to carry in the wild.

Kevlar cords also exhibit low stretch and minimal creep, which is particularly important for applications such as stringing hammocks, flying kites, and controlling stunt or traction kites. The extremely low stretch of Kevlar cords ensures that they maintain their shape and tension even after prolonged use.

The Kevlar used in EMMA KITES products is a black yarn developed by DuPont in response to the growing demand for outdoor equipment that blends seamlessly with the environment. The black color is inherent to the material, not just a surface coating.

EMMA KITES offers a variety of Kevlar cord options, including Camo Green, Yellow, and Black, as well as UHMWPE Micro Cord Rope and Technora Cord. These cords are available in a range of breaking strengths, from 50 to 2,200 pounds, and diameters from 0.4 to 4.6 millimeters.

For cords with a breaking strength of 550 pounds or more (2.1 millimeters and above), splicing is possible. However, cords with a strength between 50 and 300 pounds are too thin to be spliced.

The Kevlar cords are packaged on spools, making them easy to carry and quickly deploy when needed. Proper storage and organization are essential to ensure the cords remain in good condition and ready for use.

Kevlar's unique properties make it an invaluable material for a wide range of applications, including survival gear, aerospace projects, military uses, outdoor equipment, and more. Its resistance to abrasion, chemicals, and high temperatures, combined with its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, make it a versatile and reliable choice for various tasks and environments.
